About Me

I'm a design leader with over 20 years of experience building products and teams at some of the world's most influential technology companies. My journey started with a degree in photography, which taught me to see the world through a lens of composition, light, and human emotion. Later, a Masters in Computer Information Systems gave me the technical foundation to bridge the gap between design vision and engineering reality.

Throughout my career at Oracle, HP, VMware, and Autodesk, I've led teams of designers, researchers, data analysts, services designers and managers shipping products used by millions of people. I've learned that great design isn't just about pixels and interactions—it's about building cultures of craft, establishing systems that scale, and creating environments where designers can do their best work.

Today, I'm particularly passionate about the intersection of AI and UX. I believe we're at a critical moment where the choices we make about AI design will shape how humans and machines collaborate for decades to come. My focus is on using AI to create experiences that are transparent, controllable, and genuinely helpful—experiences that empower users rather than manipulate them.

Beyond my corporate and consulting work, I'm building privacy-first tools that reflect my values. Projects like RTT (Remember That Time) demonstrate that it's possible to create powerful, AI-enhanced experiences without compromising user privacy or autonomy.

When I'm not designing or coding, you might find me cycling the hills of Berkeley, practicing my rudimentary Swedish with my family or mentoring the next generation of design leaders.

Philosophy

I believe that the best products come from teams that combine deep user empathy with technical excellence. Design isn't a phase in the product development process—it's a way of thinking that should permeate every decision, from strategy to implementation.

In the age of AI, I'm committed to designing experiences that keep humans in control. AI should be a tool that amplifies human capability, not a black box that makes decisions on our behalf. Transparency, explainability, and user agency are paramount.

Let's connect
